In the spring of 2007, Andy Szymanowicz planted the first seeds of Sol Flower Farm. After eight years of growing vegetables and flowers, in 2015, Andy decided to change his focus from overseeing the farming side of the business to focusing in on floral design. Sol Flower’s veggie and flower managers, Maggie and Angela, were asked to continue to build on what Andy had started eight years ago. With incredible access to land and community, this opportunity could not be passed up. Multiple ownership, cooperative business strategies and unique partnerships make this new phase of the farm a unique experience.
Today, with two full years under our belts, we are excited to continue this chapter of our collective story! The farm will continue to grow an abundance of high quality flowers and veggies, with a focus on building our CSA, flower farm and unique food justice initiatives. Our mission is to feed as many people as possible in our local community, the greater Hudson Valley, as well as New York City.
