Tractor Supply Campaign

Quick summary of what we are doing with this campaign

Our first ever campaign! In July, Rock Steady Farm and our partners began a campaign in response to Tractor Supply rolling back their DEI policies, LGBTQ/Pride support, and climate change goals. During this campaign we called on you, our community of QTBIPOC farmers and rural community members to sign our petition, boycott tractor supply, and let them know that we will not be erased from the rural spaces we call home. Three months later almost  1500 people have signed our petition and 52 other farms and farming organizations signed onto our original letter.

Through a busy farming season and a tiny team on the campaign we built a group of 1459 individuals and 52 organizations who are equally as hungry for organized actions that represent the diversity of rural America that we know. Now is the time to exercise that hunger for organized action and to learn about the issues on the ballot in your community.

We learned and gained so much during this campaign that will guide and strengthen our impact for future actions. We also learned that many more of you would have liked to boycott but could not because you had no other places to shop for critical feed and equipment. We hear you, and understand that participation in petitions such as these are greatly controlled by the corporate monopolies we are fighting to change. We also know these challenging petitions against larger corporate entities serve as a catalyst to mobilize, voice our concerns, and change public narratives even if they do not immediately create the long term change we want to see. For that we will continue to work in other ways, with many partners, for the years ahead.

Rock Steady Farm is committed to changing the narrative of what farming and farmers in America look like. We are committed to training and advocating for resources for the next generation of QTBIPOC regenerative and community focused farmers to thrive. We are committed to continuing to build and strengthen partnerships with other organizations in our community doing food access work, advocacy work, farmer training, and to uplift the diverse voices and struggles within our community. A huge thank you to those of you joining in these commitments with us.
