What you need to know about our D.I.Y. event flowers.

is D.I.Y. right for me?

This is a very personal choice! You’ll need to consider your budget, available time before your event, a good space to work, helpers and how comfortable you are arranging. If you’re looking for a radiant, homegrown aesthetic, you have the time + support to get everything set up and you’re flexible on specifics - D.I.Y. would be great for you.

who is D.I.Y. definitely not Right for?

If you have super particular preferences for varieties, a very specific color palette, or you’re looking for a polished look . . . it might be a good idea to consider working with a professional. Also, planning a wedding can be stressful and overwhelming for some folks — so if you generally need a lot of personal communication, or are more comfortable having control/oversight into all the specifics, you might be happier handing it off to a pro.

Can I come Visit the Farm?

We are a working farm and currently unable to host prospective clients. Thank you for your understanding!

How much will it cost?

That depends on the size of your vases, how many arrangements you’re looking for, and what type of flowers you’re looking for. Our flowers & foliage are sold by the bunch (generally, 10 stems each), ranging from $10 - $18. We also offer a “farmer’s choice” buckets, which contain 7 - 10 bunches we select for you, making sure to provide a balance of textures and elements. Farmer’s choice buckets are $85 each. We find that most of our clients are happy with a total budget of $600-1000 worth of flowers.

how does payment work?

We ask that you make an upfront investment of $100, which reserves your date and allows the farm to purchase seed and grow the flowers for you. This is an advanced payment which is non-refundable, but will be deducted from your total bill. The remaining balance is due at pick up. Cash or check accepted.

what do i need to bring to pick up?

  1. Remaining balance in cash or check.

  2. Clean Buckets for flowers - make sure they are super clean, in order to keep your flowers fresh and long-lasting. If you don’t have buckets, you can purchase ours for $5/bucket.

  3. A plan for how you will transport them. You’ll want to make sure you can place the buckets in a way they won’t move in transport. You can fill a backseat or hatchback with buckets, or if you have fewer buckets, make sure to bring something to stabilize the buckets. You’ll want to keep the vehicle air-conditioned as well.

how should i store my flowers?

Keep them in a cool place that’s out of the sun. You don’t have to keep them refrigerated, but you do need to keep them in water, away from direct sun light and heat. They’ll easily last for 3-7 days in these conditions.

can i practice arranging?

Yes indeed, that would be very wise! It’s a very good idea to practice in advance and get a general sense of how you’ll arrange your flowers prior to the big day. If you want to purchase practice flowers from us, let us know.

do you have any arranging tips?

We encourage you to explore online tutorials for inspiration and guidance on your arrangements. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. First, decide what you need and want flowers for. Common elements include:

    • Ceremony: bouquets, boutonnière, corsages, arch above the ceremony spot.

    • Reception: dining tables, welcome table, bar flowers, memory table, photo booth

  2. Tips on designing your ‘Personal’ flowers (those carried or worn by people in the wedding). Take advantage of the internet on this one - there are lots of great resources out there on how to make bouquets, flower crowns, corsages, and boutonnière.

    • Generally, you’ll want to plan for one “focal” flower for each boutonnière and corsage, plus little buds.

    • For people carrying bouquets, we recommend playing with flowers ahead of time to see how many stems you like in your bouquet. Most Bouquets have 20-40 stems of mixed foliage, focal, and smaller flowers in them.

  3. Tips on Vessels and Dining Tables

    • We recommend using bud vases for DIY weddings. Most bud vases look great with 2-5 flowers in them.

    • If you already have vases in your possession that you would like to use, test out how many flower stems fit and look good in them before your event. Then, multiply that number by the total number of vases to get your total stem count.

    • We recommend a bud vase ever 1-2 feet on a table. If your tables are 8 feet, plan for 4-5 bud vase minimum per table to make an impact.

    • If your tables are round plan for 3 bud vases or one low arrangement per table. (we recommend a 4x4” vase)

  4. Tips on Focal Arrangements. For your bar, guest table, or at your ceremony, some people choose to do more technical and advanced flower arrangements. It’s important to know that you need a lot of flowers to make large arrangements (generally, at least 50 stems)! Definitely do your research and practice on these beauties!

Overall, just don’t forget to enjoy the process. :) The flowers are beautiful - so just keep it simple and let them do their thing!
